5 reasons to attend the Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo:

Did you just find out that you have Celiac disease or gluten sensitivity? Or have you already mastered the art of living gluten free successfully?

No matter where you stand on the subject, there is always something new to learn, whether it’s how to convert your favorite recipes to gluten free ones, or discover new healthy foods to satisfy your busy and gluten free lifestyle. I had to switch to a gluten free lifestyle 2 years ago, and the Gluten Free expo was the perfect venue to dive in and learn the ropes! The Expo is a 2-day event at the Cobb Galleria Center and is a goldmine of information for the Gluten Free warrior. Here are the 5 reasons you should attend the expo:

  1. Education

I would attend the expo for the education component alone. Numerous classes are held during the 2-day event, covering various topics, such as the connection between gluten and inflammation in the body, how to read labels to avoid contamination, or how to cook your favorite foods gluten-free without losing the taste and much more. It is truly priceless to have access to professionals who have the experience and knowledge to help us navigate through what can be a challenging transition and lifestyle.

  1. Discover new products

I don’t know about you but I remember when I first went gluten free my first thought was “What the h..l am I going to eat now?!”. It was reassuring to meet with brands, big and small, that offered a plethora of choice for gluten free foods, snacks, flours, baking goods, etc.… The gluten free living has evolved tremendously in the last couple of years, and small and big business owners alike come up with more and more healthy food options that are not only tasty but also health conscious. It is a one-time opportunity to actually directly talk to the creators behind the product and learn about what goes on your table.

  1. Find out where to shop

Now that you know what kind of products are available to you, remains the question where can you find them? There again the expo got you covered with some of the major grocers being on site so you can not only discover what kind of products they have but also sample them and see if it satisfies your taste buds. I don’t know about you but how many times have I bought a gluten free packaged product at the grocery store to go home and throw that $5 in the trash? This is your opportunity to sample products, possibly walk away with some free goodies, and coupons for your next trip to the grocery store. Not too shabby if you ask me.

  1. Are you afraid of eating out? No need to after the expo!

Amongst the exhibitors, a few restaurants offering gluten-free menus will also attend, so that you can take the guesswork out of eating out next time you have that date or birthday celebration or family event. One thing that was (and still is) a life saver for me was the Find Me Gluten free app that I wouldn’t have known about if it wasn’t for attending the expo 2 years ago. The app lets you find a list of restaurants per area that are either dedicated gluten free or offer gluten-free menus, with actual user reviews that help you decide whether it’s worth giving it a go or not. I use it intensively when I’m out and about, and absolutely love the convenience! Technology evolves at the speed of light so the expo gives a unique opportunity to learn about apps or other avenues that will make your gluten-free living much easier.

  1. It’s fun!

I love putting my explorer hat on and use the expo as an excuse to get out and see how my city is growing, and what is going on in an area I’m less familiar with. It’s almost like a weekend getaway into a new area, and I always look for attractions, or new restaurants in the area to satisfy my thirst for discovery. And you bet I always use my Find Me Gluten free app to see if there are any new dining options I can revisit at a later time.
